Square is looking for a copywriter to join our award-winning Creative team. As a copywriter, you'll work with partners to tell Square's story, educate sellers about how they can run and grow their business, and contribute to the success of our team. You'll think conceptually, taking on Payments marketing initiatives across several channels, including : campaigns, landing pages, email, social, experiential, broadcast, and print.

Copywriters are an essential part of a team of program managers, art directors, designers, and design technologists. On a daily basis, you'll also work with partners — Brand, Strategy, Product Marketing, Product Design, and Engineering — and Creative leadership.

For us, writing isn't just a discipline — it's an understanding of how to connect and communicate with audiences. You know what it takes to develop good work, succeed in collaboration, feel ownership of every project you work on, and sweat the smallest details. Naturally, you have opinions on em dashes and Oxford commas. You're even more passionate about sharing and selling ideas, and encourage others to do the same.

You Will:

  • Work with partners to translate product marketing strategies into creative concepts and executions that are both inspiring and effective
  • Write marketing landing pages, email campaigns, tutorials, search ads, social posts, sales and event material, growth marketing campaigns, print advertisements, video and radio scripts, presentations, overview guides, and style guides
  • Use customer and data insights, along with user journeys, to inform work across multiple channels
  • Collaborate across the Square organization to provide an integrated customer experience
  • Bring fresh ideas that push the boundaries of our creative output
  • Be willing to iterate quickly and receive feedback constructively
  • Work with copy editors to maintain our brand voice and tone


You Have:

  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • Can explain complicated products and processes in simple, human ways to both businesses and consumers
  • Interest in understanding performance-based marketing strategies, and using data to make smart, creative deliverables
  • Interest in technology and the evolution of content creation and distribution
  • Proficiency in Figma
