Job Description

ARCA, a respected and well-established nonprofit organization in Albuquerque, NM (>$30 million in revenues), is now seeking an experienced and capable accounting professional to fill a key leadership position as our Persons Served Accounting Manager. This position will lead an expanding program to manage the financial affairs for disabled persons who receive ARCA services. The Accounting Manager will lead a team of 6+ employees.


  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems in the Persons Served area, while ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the Controller with period-end entries, properly maintaining all GL accounts.
  • Maintain strong internal controls for the receipt, disbursement, and management of cash.
  • Work closely and productively with the service divisions at ARCA, ensuring effective collaboration with the direct service professionals and persons served at residential sites.
  • With the Controller, strengthen financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards for the Persons Served area.
  • Strengthen documentation and execution of internal financial controls.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards.


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, with 6+ years of related experience
  • Experience in nonprofit, fund, and/or foundation accounting preferred
  • Fluency in MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Hands-on familiarity with MIP or similar fund accounting systems
  • Strong written, verbal, and collaboration skills
  • Supervisory and team leadership experience
  • Desire to work for a nonprofit organization
