The Ohio Department of Taxation is responsible for the administration of individual and business taxes across the state. As a Tax Examiner Associate (TEA), you will:
  • Play a crucial role in assisting, educating, and providing system assistance to taxpayers through working correspondence via email, letters, and telephone.
  • Be given the opportunity to learn about and become an expert in the various taxes assessed by the State of Ohio.
  • Undergo comprehensive training on a wide array of tax types such as individual income, school district withholding taxes, and business taxes.
Tax Examiner Associates are desired in numerous divisions across the Department and will be filled according to need as well as individual qualification. After your initial 365-day probationary period, you will be eligible to apply for positions throughout the Department. Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for a Tax Examiner Associate, you should document on your online application the following:
  • Undergraduate core program in a business-related field or public administration
  • Two (2) courses in accounting (please attach a copy of your academic transcript to your online application)
  • Three (3) months' experience in customer service
  • OR equivalent qualifications for employment noted above

Additional Information
Unless required by legislation or union contract, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 29, Step 1 of the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule, with an opportunity for a pay increase after 6 months of satisfactory performance.
