Duties

As a Records and Information Management Specialist within the Office of Information Management, some of your specific duties will include:

- Develop and implement bureau-wide policies, procedures, training, and general and targeted proactive communications for compliance to Federal laws, regulations, and government-wide Information Management program requirements.

- Information Management programs may include one or more of the following areas: Records Management, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, Paperwork Reduction Act, Controlled Unclassified Information, Essential Records, Forms Management, Federal Advisory Committees, or Federal Register Notice publication.

- Plan, organize and coordinate Information Management program requirements for organization-wide implementation for efficient and effective information governance.

- Targeted proactive written and verbal communications for notifying, coordinating, or persuading bureau, departmental or other Federal agencies.

- Team oriented, collaborator engaging with new and developing science and the associated information management.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level:

One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service.

Examples of GS-11 level work: drafting and disseminating guidance for staff, applying policies, procedures, and strategies governing records management and providing guidance and recommendations on records or information management activities; performing analysis and legal research in order to advise others on technical and complex records management issues; administering policies, procedures, and guidance, covering management of all records throughout their lifecycle (creation, inventory, security, access, use, data management or preservation, storage, and final disposition); and preparing instructional materials to create organizational awareness and enhance knowledge of records management. Experience implementing policy, procedure or training of one or more of the following Information Management laws or regulations: the Federal Records Act, Essential Records in the Federal Continuity Directive 1, Controlled Unclassified or Classified Information (32 CFR Par 2001 and 2002), Federal Advisory Committee Act, Paperwork Reduction Act, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, or the Information Quality Act.
