Job Description


Robert Half is looking for an experienced, organized individual to take on the long-term contract / contract / temporary to permanent role of Staff Accountant at a growing, dynamic company in the Real Estate & Property industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will promote the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Major responsibilities
- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Participate in various department-wide initiatives
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
- Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Maintain monthly payment schedules


- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience with ERP systems
- Practical knowledge of Income Tax Preparation
- Experience in Public Accounting required
- Bank reconciliations experience
- QuickBooks experience
- Intercompany Accounting experience
- Intercompany Transaction experience
- Adeptness in Title Companies
- Demonstrated knowledge of Real Estate Accounting
- Microsoft Excel experience
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- 5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
